| The Court Stairs was built in 1883 by Mr Tomson, of Tomson and Wotton, the local brewers, for his daughter as her private residence. There is little known about Court Stairs after Mr Tomson’s daughter ceased to use the Property as her home, until the building was taken over by the Royal Air Force for the duration of the War. After the War Thanet Council purchased Court Stairs, and it was leased and run as a hotel, when it was sold in 1972 it continued running as a hotel, until it again changed hands, and was used as a Conference and Banqueting Centre. Court Stairs is now owned and run by Marian Walsh as a successful Conference and Wedding Venue. It is a flourishing Conference Centre, with full Conference facilities including telephone Conferencing, hosting Conferences, Meetings and other functions for Local Businesses and Groups. Court Stairs is an ideal and extremely popular venue for Weddings and is licensed to hold Wedding Ceremony’s. The Music Room with it’s balcony over looking the sea, and the new gazebo in the grounds are particularly suitable and are very popular with brides. | |
